I find it painful when traveling to have Google searches come up in the local language ... or at least what Google thinks is the local language based on your IP. Net searches find several solutions, but not all work, particularly for the Firefox Google search plugin, which seems to have a mind of its own.

Solution that works for me:

• Assuming you are using Firefox and your own laptop, remove all of the Google cookies you can find.
• Then set your home page to http://www.google.com/ncr (ncr = no country redirect).
• Quit and restart Firefox.
